Barong Parade Festival

 

Barong Idher Bumi merupakan kegiatan rutin masyarakat Using di desa Kemiren setiap tahun pada hari ke dua Idul Fitri. Dalam kegiatan ini dilaksankan arak-arakan barong dengan harapan agar Tuhan memberikan keselamatan dan kesejahteraan. Barong berbentuk topeng sebagai penggambaran hewan yang menakutkan dalam mitologi masyarakat Using di percaya sebagai lambang kebaikan yang mempunyai kemampuan untuk mengusir pengaruh jahat. Barong dimainkan oleh dua orang dengan iringan gamelan dan biasanya digunakan utuk prosesi pesta rakyat seperti ngarak pengantin, atau khitanan, dimaksudkan untuk mengusir pengaruh jahat yang dalam kehidupan  mendatang mendapatkan keselamatan dan kebahagiaan.

Acara ritual Barong Idher Bumi, atraksi menarik yang bisa kita saksikan adalah:

–          Sedekah Syawal diadakan sehari sebelum Barong Idher Bumi, setiap keluarga bergantian mengadakan selamatan kupat lepet dan berbagai kue tradisional disajikan untuk para pengunjung.

–          Prosesi upacara diawali dengan mengarak tumpeng srakat dan pecel pitik keliling kampung yang dipimpin sesepuh desa dnegan menyebarkan uang logam beserta beras kuning (Using: sembur othik-othik) di sepanjang jalan. Hal ini bertujuan untuk membuang sengkala dan mengusir pengaruh jahat agar masyarakat diberi kemakmuran dan keselamatan. Arak-arakan ini diikuti seluruh elemen masyarkat Using di desa ini, disemarakkan dengan bunyi-bunyian musik tradisional Using seperti: angklung, kuntulan, gembrung, dll.

–          Tiap-tiap keluarga membuat tumpeng dan pecel pitik. Usai arak-arakan idher bumi sebelum matahari terbenam, semua tumpeng diletakkan dan ditata di sepanjang jalan utama desa. Sesudah diberi doa oleh kyai, tumpeng dan pecel pitik dimakan bersama-sama pengunjung dan sanak family yang hadir.

BARONG IDHER BUMI

This ceremony constitutes a routine activity of using society. This tradition is held annually on the second day of Idul Fitri as village purification for the prevention of plague. Barong dancers wear mask, symbolizing evil animal. According to the using mythology, it is a goodness symbol and it has power to get rid of devilish and bad spirit power.

Barong is played by two men accompanied by the gamelan orchestra, and usually performed at the people parties. Such as : wedding and circumcision parties for the purpose of having happiness in the future.

Visitors are always welcome to observe and participate to this interesting ceremony.

A day before, sedekah syawal is held. Every household makes ketupat-lepet (special steamed rice or sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaf) and traditional cakes served and offered to visitors or neighborhoods.

The main event, the procession is started by carrying tumpeng srakat (rice cones completed with some vegetables) and pecel pitik (grilled chicken mixed with coconut) around the village lead by barong conduct by sesepuh desa by throwing some coins and yellow rice along the road and kampong. This is called the idher bumi ritual (procession of earth). This is as a village purification for the prevention of plaque. This procession is highlighted by performing traditional dances and Usingnese music orchestra  followed by Usingnese this village, just before the sunset after procession of idher bumi is over. All tumpeng and pecel pitik made by all villagers are put on the main road of this kampong. After being blessed by kyai (a Muslim preacher), selamatan (praying) is over. The tumpeng and pecel pitik may be eaten and distributed to all visitors and to the community who attend the event.
