Muncar Sea Offering Ceremony

 

Petik Laut Muncar sudah ada sejak Luhpangpang berkembang menjadi pusat kegiatan penangkapan ikan. Pada mulanya upacara dilaksankan berdasarkan pranatamangsa kemudian dilakukan setiap bulan Sura.  Upcara ini bernilai sacral dengan acara puncaknya adalah melarung perahu kecil yang berisi sesaji yang terdiri dari kepala kambing, berbagai macam kue, buah-buahan, pancing emas, candu, dan dua ekor ayam jantan yang masih hidup.

Pada malam harinya, di tempat perahu untuk sesaji dipersiapkan dilakukan tirakatan. Di beberapa surau atau rumah diadakan pengajian atau semaan sebelum perahu dilarung. Perahu sesaji tersebut diarak diperkampungan dan kegiatan ini disebut dengan idher bumi.

Selanjutnya perahu tersebut dilarung diiringi oleh ratusan perahu nelayan yang dihiasi dengan umbul-umbul. Perjalanan diteruskan ke Sembulungan, ke makam Sayyid Yusuf, orang pertama yang membuka daerah tersebut. Di sinilah biasanya tari gandrung dipentaskan. Sepulang dari Sembulungan perahu nelayan yang akan mendarat diguyur dengan air laut yang digambarkan sebagai guyuran Shang Hyang Iwak, sebagai dewi laut.

MUNCAR SEA OFFERING CEREMONY

The Muncar Sea Offering Ceremony has existed since the development of Luhpangpang became the central of catching fish activities. The ceremony was done based on the “pranatmangsa” but, the, it is always done every Suro month (Javanese Calendar). Muncar Sea Offering is a sacral activity. In this ceremony, the miniature of fisherman’s ship with full of sesaji such as comprise of the head of goat, various cakes, fruits, gold fishing hook, opium, and two alive cocks are drifted into the sea.

Un the night preparing the sesaji in te ship miniature, the people stay awake all night. Some f them read the holy Qur’an. In the morning before the ship miniature is drifted into the sea, it is brought around the village which is called “idher bumi”. The ship miniature is brought into parade in the sea followed by hundred of decorated fisherman’s ship and drifted. After that, the people visit the tomb of Sayid Yusuf, the first man who opened Muncar area, at Sembulungan. Gandrung dance is performed here.

Finally, the people finish their activities and back to the beach. The people are bathed with sea water. It symbolized the blessing of Syang Hyang Iwak, a sea goddess to them.
